Mental breakdown and sleepless night on the side (read previous blog post) it's time to talk holidays hereeee!
Last week I finally went to the Big Apple! And it is fabulous as everyone describes it.
Except for the long flight and little big of jet leg the trip was amazing, lots of food, shopping and fantastic city seeing.
The first day we went to the Observatory of the Empire State Building and it was breathtaking. I have no idea how high up I was but the fact that you can look down at the whole city gives you a mixture of feelings, I was both terrified and surprised. For me the craziest thing you can see from up there is Central Park, I think you can't appreciate that massive green area until you see it from above.
It is absolutely an experience that I suggest to everyone who has in mind to go to New York !
Little tip: cover up, on the open area it's is absolutely freezing in the winter !!

One of the highlight of the holiday for me has to be the MoMa (Museum of Modern Arts), yes yes I know, I can be boring sometimes, but I absolutely love museums, not like my boyfriend and companion of trip which gets bored in it. So since I was with the Grinch of museum I've just visited one, but New York is full of amazing museum to visit. Can anyone guess why I decided that particular museum to visit? I'll give you a clue: THE BEST PAINTING OF ALL TIME (at least for me). I finally saw my favorite painting in real life and it was as emotional as I expected to be.
Oh you didn't guess yet?! I'm talking abut "Starry Night" by Van Gogh !
We entered the museum with the only purpose to see that painting, wondered around it for a little bit looking for it and at one point, I felt like it was calling me, decided to turn a corner and it was there in all its glory! Good for us we decided to go to the museum at the opening time so it wasn't too busy and I was able to stare at the painting and cry in peace. Yes I cried, laugh as much as you want at this point, but I am an emotional person when it comes to painting and in particular when it comes to Van Gogh, so yes I cried and asked the security guard (in tears) if I could get closer to the painting and when he told me no, I cried little harder. Joking.

Definitely worth to go visit is Brooklyn not only for the bridge, which is magical to see at night time, but also for its neighborhood. It is very different from New York, more artistic in a certain way in my opinion.

If you're planning a visit to New York definitely don't miss on the shopping opportunity! Wear comfy shoes and go. One of my favorite shops has to be Macy's.
Macy's is a massive shopping center with a lot of discounted goods from different good brands such as Michael Kors (I bought another bag, guilty as charged) Levi's and Ralph Lauren. Shocking news for everyone, I did less shopping than my boyfriend! I know, crazy!
If museum and shopping are not your go to and you just want to go to New York for drinking and eating than I suggest to go to Arlene's Grocery 95 Stanton St, New York, NY 10002, USA. An underdog bar with an area dedicated to karaoke. Drinks are cheap and the stuff is very friendly. The band was fantastic and not to talk about all the people who sang at the karaoke, everyone was so good it blew my mind. Not like the usual Karaoke bar here in London, an experience to try!
Another place to go for food and drinks has to be 230th Fifth, an amazing rooftop bar and restaurant. Don't think that rooftop bars are a summer exclusive! If you're worried about the cold worry no more, the rooftop is furnished of heating and they kindly offer cozy red robes. The atmosphere is magical and the food delicious. Definitely a place to go. Oh forgot to mention, the view from the rooftop is spectacular!
